"This is truly a great program. Now people with no coding experience can make killer FPS games, and people with coding experience can customize their games to make them even more killer than the already killer killer games! Rockin'! I love everything about FPSC. First Person Shooter Creator is a godsend!" — A genuine opinion by Jiffy (FPSC User)

Checking your DirectX version

To check which version of DirectX you have installed perform the following steps:

  1. Click on Start and then Run...
  2. Enter dxdiag and click the OK button.
  3. The DirectX Diagnostics Tool will now load and run. It takes a while to scan your system but eventually you will see the System Information results.
  4. Displayed at the bottom of the list is the DirectX Version. It should read DirectX 9.0c *
  5. You can also check how much memory your video card has from this tool. Click on the Display tab (alternatively labelled Display 1 in a multi-monitor environment). The approximate available memory is displayed in the Device section of the window.
  6. Click the Exit button when you are finished.

* At the time of writing 9.0c is the most recent release. If you have a more recent version then you should have no problems. If you have any earlier version (9.0b or less) then you must upgrade before FPS Creator will run.
